The word Chakra is the Sanskrit word for 'wheel'. The word Hvel is the Old Norse equivalent with the same meaning. From the research that I have done, it is uncertain whether or not the Norse people actually had a similar concept of Chakra like in Eastern religions. However, it is interesting to note that there is recognized to be nine Chakras (of which you can find more indepth information on the Chakra page) and the Norse believed there to be nine realms connected by the tree Yggdrasil. So while the concept of Hvel may be a more modern blending of Western and Eastern belief systems, it doesn't make it any less a valuable tool.
